Department Overview
The School of Medicine at ECUSTA HLI is dedicated to producing the next generation of Ethiopian medical doctors. Our 6.5-year integrated curriculum combines rigorous biomedical science with early clinical exposure and a deep commitment to community health.
Administrative Structure

Preclinical & Freshmen Coordination
Focuses on Year 1 (Pre-med) and Year 2 (Pre-clinical). Manages the basic science modules including Anatomy, Physiology, and Biochemistry laboratories.
Clinical Education
Oversees Year 3 (Clinical I) and Year 4 (Clinical II). Coordinates rotations in Internal Medicine, Surgery, Pediatrics, and Ob-Gyn at partner hospitals.

Community Based Education (CBE)
A core pillar of our curriculum. Students spend time in rural health centers (TPTP) and conduct community diagnosis projects to understand the social determinants of health.
Internship Program
Coordinates the final qualifying year. Interns work as junior doctors under supervision, rotating through major specialties before graduation and licensure.
