Located in the Nefas Silk Lafto sub-city of Addis Ababa, our campus spans a serene, enclosed environment conducive to study and reflection. It features modern lecture halls, a dedicated clinic, and green spaces.
Legal Status & Accreditation
ECUSTA Higher Learning Institute is a private, non-profit institution fully accredited by theHigher Education Relevance and Quality Agency (HERQA) of Ethiopia. Our degrees are recognized nationally and internationally.
Our Journey
The Inception
The concept of the Ethiopian Catholic University is born following a request by Prime Minister Meles Zenawi to Pope John Paul II during a state visit to the Vatican.
Agreement Signed
An official agreement is signed between the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia (FDRE) and the Catholic Bishop Conference of Ethiopia (CBCE) to establish the university.
Lasallian Stewardship
The De La Salle Brothers assume administrative responsibility. Br. Augustine Nicoletti, FSC becomes the first Brother President, solidifying the Lasallian identity.
First MD Graduates
A historic milestone as the first batch of medical doctors graduates, ready to serve the Ethiopian healthcare system with compassion and competence.
Expansion & Accreditation
ECUSTA achieves full accreditation for new programs in Social Work and Computer Science, expanding its academic portfolio.
